Other Spanish schools here don't offer daily extracurricular activities.

Many classes don't follow a curriculum. Some group classes are filled with 6 students of different skill-levels.

Instead of learning Latino Spanish and Paraguayan slang, some schools only give written exercises which come from Spain.

Facebook Groups

The Digital Nomads and Expats Facebook Group is active, and has over 6,000 members! They are a great community.

They have two regular meetups per week, and English is the primary language spoken there.

Although the Facebook Groups been impactful, nomads and expats are still left lacking a daily social routine that prioritizes Spanish.

WhatsApp Sports Groups

Fortunately, there are large WhatsApp groups where you can join casual athletes for football, running, hiking, cycling, pickleball, and more.

However, the outings tend to be weekly, which doesn't provide a daily routine.

Rooted Friendships

The strongest friendships come from a shared struggle. In this case, the challenge of learning Spanish unites each class of 3-4 students.

Going to school is the oldest trick in the book for making friends! Classes are grouped by skill-level, which creates the opportunity for students to study and do homework together after school.

School Routine

Routine is good for mental health. Every day, Monday-Friday, classes start at 9am, with professional teachers who have education degrees. There's an 10:40am break, and then two more hours of class at 11am.

Students are in a 40 unit-long curriculum, and their daily homework always includes a bit of Paraguayan slang and history.

Puertita's teachers are full-time employees, paid well, and enjoy teaching their language & culture

Cultural Immersion

Puertita offers 5 cultural activities every week, with participation from classmates, Puertita teachers, and locals.

Activities range from our weekly salsa dance classes, to museum tours, to Parguayan cooking classes from a local abuelita (grandmother), and more.
